-The Old Town Child Care
Center-
Care for children ages
1 - 15 years
At Young Peoples, we
take seriously the responsibility we hold – your child. We welcome the
opportunity to help them to learn and grow, and to do it in a caring,
safe, and wholesome environment. Education and experience are crucial
elements, but we think our attitude towards kids is the core requirement
in being able to provide quality care for your child.
We offer smaller class sizes and better equipped facilities. We
have very competitive rates and believe that when you compare us to any
center in town you will consider us the best value in town – especially
for your children.
This attitude carries over to some of the extra things we do.
Things like being open many Friday nights so parents can go out
(including all Fridays in December before Christmas); never being closed
because of snow; our summer Splash Party; Our Thanksgiving Feast; and
our Holiday Sing Program.
So if you are considering child care for the first time, or just
want to see if there is something better for your child, please give us
a call and set an appointment so we can show you what we have to offer.

Our Mission
Our mission is to
provide a safe, happy, and educationally enriching environment for
children. We recognize the individual needs of each child in
developing socially, emotionally, intellectually, and physically.
We help them grow by nurturing their talents, teaching their minds, and
challenging their limits everyday through learning and play.
Our Programs
Young Peoples Learning
Center is a non-discriminating, state licensed, preschool/child care
center for children 1-15 years of age. Toddler care, for children 1 to 3
years, is offered at our Mathews Street location and Preschool care, for
children 2 ½ to 5 years, is offered at our Plum Street location. For
school age children, we offer transportation from selected nearby
schools to our school age program. Our Schoolagers also enjoy special
weekly programs for Christmas and Spring Breaks; the most active summer
programs around for children ages 5 to 10 years (KinderCamp and FunCamp);
as well as a unique, very active summer program for 11 to 15 year olds (TeenCamp.)
Most people select Young Peoples as their preschool/child care center
because we have a small, homelike environment - a good stepping-stone
between home and elementary school. We keep our learning group sizes
small and studies have shown that group size is a critical factor in
providing a positive learning environment. We believe that it is because
of these two reasons that our staff turnover is low. It is not unusual
for our teachers to remain with us 5 years or more. We invite you to
walk around, observe, and talk with the staff and children and see Young
Peoples for yourself.
Young Peoples Learning Center welcomes and celebrates the diversity of
our students. We accept students with disabilities whenever feasible. We
will work with outside agencies in order to provide the programming
needed.
